Blogging goals 2017

Let’s keep it straight and simple . Blogging is something I want to learn and get really good at . So I charted my blogging goals for the coming year because an organized approach doesn’t hurt and besides , a little reinforcement of the facts will help in the long run. Here they are :

1) Read more

Target : Ten blogposts a week to begin with

The more you read , the better you get . You build a community of bloggers by reading and sharing their blogposts who in turn give you feedback. Thus , I endeavour to read minimum of ten blogposts a week and gradually increase my reading skill.

2) Develop and define my blogging style

I want to share my experiences as a stay at home mum  and also as a homemaker . The good side and the not so good side of a woman’s life who chooses to look after the house and babies . So my goal is to refine my ideas and experiences and start writing about it.

3) Focus on the content and quality of the posts

I read some blogs and they blow my mind with the meaningful content . There is always a takeaway from those posts and that is exactly what I want my readers to feel after reading my posts.

4) Decide upon the blogging frequency

Target : Once a week

It amazes me to see people taking up daily blogging challenges when I find it difficult to even blog once a month. This will be a major achievement if I start putting posts once a week and I feel with a wee bit of time management skills I shall achieve this goal too.

5) Solve the mystery of Alexa

The technical aspects of blogging eludes me. So this one comes in the last of the priority list . I promise that by the end of 2017 I will try to get the hang of it even if I don’t become a full fledged pro.

These ,my friends , are my blogging goals.A document I shall keep revisiting to reaffirm that I am on the right path .

Thank  you blogchatter for this great idea to list down our individual blogging goals. This shall surely help a lot in the times to come. Cheers !

Blog buddy 3.0 – To new beginnings !

Life and all its shenanigans can sometimes ,ok  most of the times , overwhelm you. The weighty school bags, the stress of college assignments, the enervating office hours and deadlines, the social pressures of dating, marriage and procreation and before you realise you have transformed from a perfectly functional human being to a humanised robot.  WAKE, WORK, SLEEP, REPEAT !

Well that happens in most cases , until some wise ones gain consciousness to break the rut and start something they really “wish” to do and not something they are “required ” to do.

All of 30 and I had got stuck in life’s drill till I stumbled upon a friend’s blog last year. Blogging fascinated me no end. A place where I can share what I feel and give some “gyaan” and sound cool . Whoa ! The next thing I know is I am attending a session on blogging conducted by the same friend . This friend told me that after attending the session I would start blogging myself and I was like ” Yeah , that ain’t gonna happen ” in my head.

How wrong was I ? For someone who uses the social media to only upload pictures and secretly snoop what my frenemies are up to, this was a huge step.

I was soon introduced to the friendly Blogchatter sessions on Twitter and made a part of  a unique BlogBuddy program. Well it started with a boom and stopped with a bang for me .

You know ,for someone who has been changing baby nappies and making baby food straight after royally receiving her MBA degree , I got excited to be doing something I really wanted to and scared and nervous reading other bloggers and their inspiring content.

Convenience  took precedence and I gave up blogging thinking I am no good. Went back to “Mum mode” . But Blogchatter did not give up on me.  Stubborn huh!

So here I am , part of BlogBuddy new season , blogging again , exhilarated and dancing to “beat pe booty” in my head.

The strength of BlogBuddy is a set of aspiring bloggers who interact and motivate each other in a regular fashion to “blog together to blog better” . It’s all about community, love and inspiring each other.

While I celebrate my return with a glass of chardonnay and some bootilicous music, I wish to thank Blogchatter for another chance and you for reading me and hopefully leaving your feedback .

I want to take my blog to the next level #Blogchatter

I was tagged by Stephen ( http://www.thesolitarywriter.com/ ) to write this post.

Thank you Stephen for this really interesting prompt. From the moment I wrote my first blog around 18 days back to be precise , I have been asking myself this very question day in day out.

I took a break from publishing anymore posts because I was feeling dwarfed by the other bloggers and their extraordinary content . My own Blogbuddy team is supremely talented and I am struggling to keep pace with them.

Everyday I ask myself “How can i blog better ?” and “Why did I get into Blogging ?”These questions were driving me crazy .

Time for answers then. I want to blog to share my experiences as a house-wife , a mom , a young woman and tell the world some untold stories . How demanding and complicated life can get for us housewives contrary to popular belief . My friends who are working tell me stories about their office politics and their survival strategies always feeling that life of a home maker is so much more peaceful . I want to tell them and to others that the grass ALWAYS looks greener on the other side .

So that answers my second question. Now how can I blog better ? Like they say in our Blogchatter community – Blog together to Blog better ! Simple .The blogging community, therefore, is of paramount importance . And one must be a dedicated loyalist to this community because such blogging communities stick together and help you in your difficult times.

Also , I want to serve some awesome rib-tickling and inspiring content to my readers. Again the role of community comes into play who will read ,share and give their opinions and help me grow.

From my perspective , I can take my blog to the next level by the love and support of my peers ,my blogging community and the support of my readers. So stay tuned for some interesting perspectives from a housewife’s heart to yours .

A letter to Myself

Yes ! you read that right. Writing a letter to oneself might sound a little queer , like it did to me at first , but I decided to give it a shot. The reason for me to write a letter to myself is very simple really – to get across certain ideas that I run away from or tend to ignore everyday in the garb of doing some more important work like taking care of the kids or the household. This letter would reiterate to me and hopefully to some other ladies and gentlemen caught up in the whirlwind parenting act to ponder over some known and shrugged off aspects of our everyday life.

(I am addressing myself as Darling because I want to. Period)

So here it goes :

“Dear Darling,

I know you are doing great things with your life and very busy doing it. You are raising three kids ,two of your own and an overgrown baby (The Husband). You are a full time stay at home mommy running around the house at the beck and call of the kids which leaves you with no time to do certain very important jobs like shopping and hence the boom in online shopping these days .

On a more serious note ,how often during the course of the day do u pay attention to your own feelings ? Do that ,starting now .Also take a break and go for a coffee sometime . You wont burn in hell for leaving your kids with the help to spend some time with yourself . Pinky promise.

Give yourself a spot on your life’s priority list . Find time to eat , sleep and exercise .Play more with the kids and discipline less . You don’t have to set an example for anyone by making your kids a robot for everyone to applaud. Cut them a slack . Let them create a mess and dirty their clothes .Let them play and laugh and you laugh too along with them . You must have realized by now that nothing is more precious in this world than a child’s laughter ,not even a clean house ! Be nice to your Mister too .

You do what makes you happy and not what makes others happy. Sometimes one gets so caught up in the routine that one forgets to live life .Let this letter be a reminder to you to live and love life . Life has its own way of dealing with everyone’s unresolved issues at its own pace . Don’t interfere with life’s pace ,just flow with it .

And read this letter every morning to keep yourself sorted . Don’t forget to love yourself the most and give love to everyone around you . Now before I turn too preachy lets end the letter with this motto – Eat, Love ,Pray ,Sleep and Make Merry !

Yours truly,

I,Me,Myself

An ode to the Playground

Playgrounds are happy places .They are synonymous with all things fun -slides, swings, laughter, birds chirping  and children running everywhere . The atmosphere is always so positive and cheerful.

As an expecting mom ,I would spend a good part of my mornings in the nearby park sitting and soaking in the Vitamin D.

The sight of little boys and girls playing so audaciously gave me the goosebumps. They would so often fall ,get hurt and cry for a bit, pick themselves up again and get on with their play . The simplicity of this act really puzzled me.Their undaunting spirit ,their carefree attitude was so endearing .And none of them would go home willingly . They would have to be either carried away in their parents arms forcefully or dragged by hand .Little rascals i used to call them in my head.

Now every evening when two of my own come home and try to explain how the bruise on the knee doesn’t hurt or how their clothes picked dust and dirt magically ! I smile at them and let them spin their stories.

I dont mean to philosophise here ,but isn’t our lives first and most important lessons learnt in the neighbouring playground. That unassuming park teaches you how to play ,get hurt and get on with it . You meet people ,you become friends or foes. You play ,you learn , you win ,you lose. But most important of all , the playground teaches you to find happiness in simple things and offers numerous inconsequential moments of joy and pain alike. This place vibrates with so much positive energy that it takes away all your stress and sorrows.

So lets head to this happy place next time life frazzles you .Go there and spend some time to find that moment of peace  life takes away from you each day ,everyday .
